Statement: CASEPAC Urges President Biden to Adopt IHRA

Biden Should Adopt IHRA

(May 22, 2023) CASEPAC, the only Federal Political Action Committee in the United States dedicated exclusively to Combating Antisemitism Everywhere strongly urges the Biden Administration to move forward with embracing the widely recognized IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism throughout all agencies of the United States federal government. It should be recalled that on February 23, 2021, President Biden's Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, wrote "…the Biden Administration enthusiastically embraces the IHRA working definition of antisemitism."

President Biden should not allow fringe, extremist groups such as JStreet, the New Israel Fund and Members of Congress such as Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar to influence his judgement against the overwhelming consensus of the Jewish-American community on this matter. Mainstream Jewish groups of all stripes - Democrats and Republicans from the Reform, Conservative and Orthodox movements – overwhelmingly support the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism as the gold standard for identifying antisemitism in its various contemporary manifestations.

“CASEPAC strongly urges the Biden Administration to embrace IHRA. As we build out our organization, we will be urging the Jewish community in America to demand Congressional Candidates and Members of Congress embrace the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism. If the Biden Administrations does not embrace IHRA, they are sending an alarming message to the Jewish community in America. One that American Jews will not soon forget.” said Bryan E. Leib, Executive Director of CASEPAC
